In 1989 the city of Hiroshima, first place in the world to suffer a nuclear attack, established the Hiroshima Art Prize with the object of promoting through art the “spirit of Hiroshima” that yearns for permanent world peace and prosperity for all humanity. The Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art gives out this award every three years and stages an exhibition showcasing the work of the winner.
Yoko Ono was awarded this award in 2011, as the 8th winner of the award. This is the catalog for the exhibition held at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art from 30 July - 16 October 2011.
