Arizona - Issey Miyake & Isamu Noguchi
A stunning catalogue to accompany the collaborative exhibition between fashion designer Issey Miyake and sculptor Isamu Noguchi that took place at the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art in 1997.
This elegant and lavishly illustrated leporello-format publication enhances a conversation between the designer and artist, as well as taking on a sculptural form in itself. The colourful unfolding leaves also seem reminiscent of Miyake’s signature pleats!
The title Azriona refers to the latest fashion collection by Miyake that was displayed in the exhibition on striking straw mannequins. On the reverse side of the leporello there are accompanying texts from Christo and Jeanne-Claude, architect Yoshio Taniguchi on ‘Fashion Design as Art of Space’, and others. Biographies and a list of works are also included. A stunning piece of publishing that perfectly celebrates the friendship between Noguchi and Miyake.
Blue plastic boards printed with gold titles in a printed plastic slipcase. Japanese and English text.
