Visions of the Body
Fashion Or Invisible CorsetWhen women discarded the corset at the turn of the twentieth century, fashion discovered the beauty of the moving body and searched for functionality. At the same time women started to reshape their bodies themselves. They have voluntarily put on an “invisible corset”. At the end of the twentieth century, with the application of organ transplant and genetic manipulation, the relationship between fashion and body is already showing signs of change. It is very important to reflect upon the past, especially the twentieth century, which has not been reviewed yet when we consider fashion and the body of the future. The exhibition presented the works of renowned fashion designers in the twentieth century, in contrast to the works of contemporary artists that raise the question of the body through fashion, in order to reinterpret fashion through its relationship to the body as well as contemplate their relationship in the future.
